About the show

Crazy for You is a two act tap dancing musical comedy for stage written by Ken Ludwig featuring music by Ira and George Gershwin. Opening at the Shubert Theatre on Broadway on February 19, 1992, it originally ran for 1622 performances. This musical is an adaptation of the George and Ira Gershwin-written musical Girl Crazy (1930).

Crazy for You won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1992.

20th May at 8pm – Introduction to the show with our Director Yvonne Chadwell and Musical Director Brian D Steel

22nd and 27th May at 8pm – A chance to work through audition pieces

29th May at 8pm – Cast Auditions

1st June from 2pm – Principal Auditions

PLEASE NOTE:
You must be a fully paid up member of the society to audition for the show In addition you must also have paid your show fee. The cast audition must be completed before you will be allowed to audition for a principal role.
If possible, the audition panel will update the HAODS answer phone with their decisions late on Sunday evening. If a decision has to be delayed then the audition panel will communicate with members as soon a practically possible. Anyone who is not cast will have their show fee refunded.

Synopsis

In Crazy for You a stage-struck New York playboy, Bobby Child, is sent to a small, poor town in Nevada to close down the local theatre. Soon Bobby falls in love with the theatre owner’s daughter, Polly. In order to save the theatre, he dreams up the idea to put on a show to raise money for the theatre. In the end, the town is reinvigorated, the theatre is saved and Bobby finds love.
