Crazy for you
About the showCrazy for You is a two act tap dancing musical comedy for stage written by Ken Ludwig featuring music by Ira and George Gershwin. Opening at the Shubert Theatre on Broadway on February 19, 1992, it originally ran for 1622 performances. This musical is an adaptation of the George and Ira Gershwin-written musical Girl Crazy (1930). Crazy for You won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1992. SynopsisIn Crazy for You a stage-struck New York playboy, Bobby Child, is sent to a small, poor town in Nevada to close down the local theatre. Soon Bobby falls in love with the theatre owner’s daughter, Polly. In order to save the theatre, he dreams up the idea to put on a show to raise money for the theatre. In the end, the town is reinvigorated, the theatre is saved and Bobby finds love.
Cast ListFollowing the auditions at the start of June the following cast was announced.
ALL people who auditioned have been accepted for the cast. There are still a number of other speaking and singing roles which will be allocated to individuals from the floor. Characters Bobby Child — A handsome young man with dreams of performing in the Zangler Follies. Engaged to Irene Roth for 5 years. Polly Baker — The daughter of the owner of the Gaiety Theatre in Nevada. Bela Zangler — The married director of the Zangler Follies who lusts after Tess. Irene Roth — A society debutante determined to marry Bobby and get his money. Lank Hawkins — Deadrock's saloon owner who wants to buy the Gaiety Theatre Lottie Child — Bobby's demanding mother. Tess — A dance director and Bela Zangler's young & pretty mistress Betsy Billy Custus Elaine Eugene — A British tourist writing a guidebook to the American West. Married to Patricia. Role: Cameo Everett Baker — Polly's father and owner of the theater. Harry Jimmy Junior Louise Margie Mingo Mitzi Moose Patricia — A British tourist writing a guidebook to the American West. Married to Eugene.
